Rochester NY is located in Monroe County. It is the second largest economy in the state of New York and second only to New York City. It is the third larges city in New York and the center of Monroe County which also includes Livingston, Orleans, Genesee, Ontario and Wayne Counties. It is famously called The Worlds Image Center or the Flower City. Having 36 neighborhoods with each having their own characteristics and unique from each other, it is also known as the city of neighborhoods. There is the residential tree lined avenues of Maplewood if you love the serenity of nature. Now if you are more of the eclectic type, you will love South Wedge Business district. Then there is Browncroft if gracious homes are what you are looking for.
According to Places Rated Almanac, it is the 6th Most Livable Cities among the 379 metropolitan areas. In 2007, it was given the top rank for quality of life and 6th for best metropolitan public schools nationwide by the Expansion Management Magazine. Rochester NY is considered to be one of the best places to live in because of its available to all wide range of resources. Whether for a single person or for a family, the city has everything one will need, from the most beautiful architecture, parks, business center and cultural centers.
The city has around 3500 people in different jobs when it comes to city employment. Comprehensive benefits for employees, opportunities for advancement and competitive pay are what the city boasts of. The city is also very supportive of its local large and small businesses. There is also the Rochester City Ballet and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for those who love the arts. Since the city takes a deep pride in its history, you will find the history of Rochester in its architecture and in its museums. Of course there are other works of art showcased in other museums, such as the unique collections of the George Eastman House and the dolls at the Chili Doll Hospital and Victorian Doll Museum. And there are the usual indoor and outdoor sports for those who love sports. Of course boating on Lake Ontario, the Fingers Lake, the Genesee River and the Erie Canal are something you can always enjoy.
